Ka Ting's return will split party, says Chinese community leader
IPOH: Former MCA president Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting should reconsider his decision to contest for the party presidency, a Chinese community leader here said.
Perak Kwang Tung Association president Ng Kok Wah said Ka Ting's return would further split the party.
He said Ka Ting could instead act as a negotiator between the three factions, led by party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, former deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and former vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai respectively.
"Ka Ting should also let the three settle their differences on their own," he told a press conference held here yesterday.
Ng said the Chinese community had yet to get the chance to see what Tee Keat's true potential as a leader was and how capable he was in serving the community.
"He is an outspoken politician and the Chinese community needs someone like him," he added.
He urged all MCA members and delegates to support Tee Keat.
On another matter, Ng said the association would be having a thanksgiving ceremony on March 26 to celebrate its re-regis tration.
He said it was also held in conjunction with the Qing Ming (All Souls Day) celebration.
It was reported that the regis tration of the association was cancelled on Jan 7 because there was a claim that it had failed to carry out secret ballot ing during elections on April 26, 2009.

Seems like many NGOs are always supportive of OTK. Yes, it will be a testing field again for OTK in the coming months before another election starts - will see if he works well if elected President.
