MCA leaders divided over move

PETALING JAYA: MCA leaders are divided over the move by former party president Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting to contest for the president's post in the coming polls on March 28.
Party disciplinary board chairman Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn and party veteran Datuk Yap Pian Hon were of the view that Ong had the right to contest the presidency as he was a central delegate.
"It is his right to contest," said Dr Fong, who was vice-president when Ong was president.
Former vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said MCA was a democratic party and any central delegate could contest in the polls.
"The elections are very important for the party to select a new team that will rebuild the integrity of the party and maintain its stability," he said at a dinner function yesterday.
Wanita MCA chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun welcomed the decision made by Ong.
She said his decision would give another option to the central delegates.
Yap, however, said it would be a mistake for Ong to be a candidate for the party's top post.
He said as a former leader, Ong should have gathered other party veterans and given their advice to the current leadership during the party crisis.
"He should have stopped the party in-fighting there and then.
"However, he kept quiet about the situation and when there is a fresh election in the party, he wants to be part of it," Yap added.

Insider MCA seems to be correct when it says that John Maxwell said that a leader should leave in good hands. (here) If you think that "See, the party can't works without me... I must come back," then it is already proven that the leadership is individual. OKT is not a leader of leader of leader.... but a leader of followers only.... or is he even a leader?
Funny bugger CMF welcomed the decision - this indecisive lady - who is she supporting now? CSL - a definitely no because of her hard knocks saying she will definitely resign if CSL is the President. LTL - due to rumours saying LTL and CSL may form a pact - she is now worried.... ah, no worries, the savior is here - OKT!
